1: He was released from prison in 1999, after which he traveled to Afghanistan again. He had previously gone there during the early years of jihad and later moved to Iraq, where he founded the organization “Jamaat al-Tawhid wal-Jihad” and became its leader.

Later, he aimed to expand his influence and reorganize Al-Qaeda in the Iraqi region under the leadership of Osama bin Laden. He also participated in forming the “Shura Council of Mujahideen,” and his group became one of the key organizations active in Iraq.
