1: He is Hammam Khalil Muhammad Abu Mallal al-Balawi, nicknamed Abu Layla, and is famously known as Abu Dujana al-Khorasani.

Of Jordanian origin, born in Kuwait, lived in Zarqa, and killed in Khost.

He was born in Kuwait in 1977. He lived in the Zarqa district of the Jordanian capital, Amman. He entered medical school in Turkey on a government scholarship after excelling in the General Secondary Education exam, where he achieved 71% in Jordan. After graduating from university, he worked as a doctor.

He married Ms. Defne Bayrak, a Turkish journalist, whom he met during his studies in Turkey. They had two daughters.

He began his writing journey on Islamic Hisbah websites and forums, using the nickname “Abu Dujana al-Khorasani.” He became known and gained fame through this identity. He also worked as one of the supervisors of the Hisbah network under the name “Malak al-Ashja’i.”

Jordanian security services reportedly arrested him as part of an active cell linked to his media activities. He was held for a few days in an interrogation center, where he was allegedly offered cooperation to act as an informant to infiltrate Al-Qaeda under high-level direction. He is said to have agreed and was later released.

Following this, his skills as a medical doctor and activist reportedly became more evident. He is described as having managed and monitored the intelligence officer assigned to recruit and track him, successfully deceiving intelligence services. He is further portrayed as having misled the CIA, convincing them that he had developed blindness.

He then managed to travel to Khorasan and joined militants there, living among them in training camps. He was considered a distinctive personality who influenced those around him, as described in writings about him, marking a significant phase in the life he sought and pursued.

After reaching the mujahideen, a consultative council was formed to decide how to deal with the matter. On the last day of 2009, Abu Dujana al-Khorasani approached his intended target.

Meanwhile, a select group of American intelligence officers was summoned to Camp Chapman in Khost by the Jordanian intelligence officer who had been tasked with recruiting him. There, Abu Dujana al-Khorasani met with them and assured them that he had important information about the senior leadership of the al-Qaeda mujahideen.

He then detonated a suicide vest, killing the people present.
