Understanding Age Calculation

This calculator uses the most common age system, where a person's age increases on their birthday. For instance, someone who is 3 years and 11 months old is considered 3; their age will become 4 on their next birthday.

Note on Cultural Differences:
Age is counted differently around the world. In some cultures, age is defined by the current year of life, meaning a person is considered "1" at birth. In traditional Chinese systems, for example, everyone gains a year on the Lunar New Year, not on their individual birthday.

A Note on Month Calculations:
Calculations involving the end of months can sometimes be confusing due to the varying number of days in each month.

Example: From February 28, 2022, to March 31, 2022, using our method, the result is 1 month and 3 days. An alternative method that treats both dates as month-ends would yield 1 month. Both are valid; we use the first method for consistency. This applies to similar date ranges (e.g., Apr 30 to May 31).
