1: The Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat:
The modern jihad in Algeria began against the country’s tyrants under the banner of the Armed Islamic Group. After years of gathering under this banner, methodological deviations began to emerge and intensify, leading to massacres against the Algerian people. This banner, which was under the leadership of Antar Zouabri, became a symbol for those who advocated migration, takfir (excommunication), and the shedding of Muslim blood. Therefore, at the beginning of 1420 AH (2009/2000 CE), many sincere mujahideen gathered to declare their innocence of these crimes, thus announcing the formation of the Salafist Group.
2: When the heroes of Islam invaded the United States on its own soil on September 11, 2001, Sheikh Abu Musab was the head of the group’s council of elders. The group viewed this pivotal event in the history of the conflict between Islam and disbelief as a great victory for Islam and Muslims. Following this, it issued a statement affirming its allegiance to those who raised the banner of jihad in the path of God in Afghanistan: Mullah Muhammad Omar Mujahid (may God have mercy on him) and the al-Qaeda organization under the leadership of Sheikh Osama bin Laden (may God have mercy on him).
