The IEA carried out an operation against Daesh Khorasan sleeper cells
Special Forces belonging to the IEA’s Ministry of Interior carried out a special operation against an ISKP cell in the Barik Ab area of Bagram district, Parwan province, at around 9:30 PM last night.
As a result, one ISKP member was captured, along with a Corolla car that was to be used as a launcher for 3 BM-1 rockets.
The intended target of the rocket attack was the celebration ceremonies marking the 4th anniversary of the IEA’s takeover of Afghanistan.
Looking at IEA’s previous anniversary ceremonies, it is most likely that Bagram Air Base would have been the target of the foiled rocket attack, as it also matches the attention-seeking criteria of ISKP.
